Problem

Blood pressure changes. A single reading captures only a moment.

High blood pressure often develops without noticeable symptoms. Left untreated, it can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and kidney damage—yet many people do not know they have it.

The World Health Organization estimates that 1.4 billion adults aged 30–79 had hypertension in 2024, and 44% were unaware of their condition.

What happens between measurements?

Conventional blood pressure checks provide individual readings. They are essential for diagnosis and monitoring, but they do not show every change between measurements.

Twenty-four-hour ambulatory monitoring provides a more detailed picture, including during sleep. However, it typically takes readings at intervals—for example, every 30 minutes during the day and every hour at night—rather than continuously.

This leaves gaps in the record: short-lived changes occurring between readings may not be captured.

The challenge

The opportunity is to make continuous blood pressure monitoring practical for everyday wear: comfortable, easy to use and capable of providing reliable measurements.

That is the challenge behind the Koala Sleeve—a wearable sleeve designed for continuous blood pressure monitoring.
